How Russians choose credit cards

As a part of Retail Market Monitoring program the company Profi Online Research analyzed factors people in Russia take into account while choosing bank to get a credit card.

According to the research as of the end of 2009 19% of 7.1 thousand respondents had credit cards. The key factors that define the choice are the service charges.

The research has shown that Moscow respondents more often pay attention to the number of cash deposit terminals (65% in Moscow vs 51% in the regions), option of getting the card without visiting the banking outlets (28% vs 22%), grace period (72% vs 65%) and the card design (11% vs 7%).

In the regions people pay more attention to the credit limit size (79% of respondents), interest rates and early repayment option.

Citi rolls out contactless payments stickers

Citi has quietly rolled out the option for customers who request it via the bank's Web site, using the tag-line: "The back of your phone just became its coolest feature".

The Citi payment tags, supplied by Oberthur Technologies, enable customers to make payments of up to $50 at the point of sale at MasterCard PayPass readers.

It is linked to customers' Citi credit card accounts with purchases appearing on monthly statements.
